JSP Extension Class in Bridgeport Connecticut has begun
The JSP Extension class in Bridgeport Connecticut began on March
5th 2011 and continued Saturday March 12 2011.
The JSP has been asked to train Christians in the Northeast USA as
the Bridgeport congregation takes on the task of evangelizing
along Interstate-95 highway north and south. "A congregation in
every major city along I-95." We are honored to take up the
challenge.
We will be delivering the training effort with live classes and
mostly using video technology available using the Internet. It is
an important and historic development.
The Bridgeport congregation is only 19 months old and is off to an excellent start. It is composed of Christians
from several
nations.
Ellis Stanley and Pat Keller and other leaders have a motivated
group who so far have led 19 to Christ in 19 months. The JSP's
role is to give deep exposure to the Word of God and to help guide
and motivate the leaders for the next two and a half years. The JSP team of
teachers Gladwyn Kiddoe,Francis Yorke,Leslie Goode,Paul Blake,
Michael Dunbar,
and Luis Pedraza will be available to teach.
Gladwyn Kiddoe initially will teach once a quarter in Connecticut.
However, we will teach several times per month from Mona, Kingston
Jamaica
using Skype video and audio technology. We have obtained equipment
which enhances the clarity of the video and voice transmission.
The JSP will be teaching, training, motivating and passing on our 42
years of experience helping the work in Jamaica and Cuba
especially
but also in the 16 countries where our graduates now serve.
We will be passing on vital speech and leadership skills to help
advance the work in the northeast USA.

New church planted near Morant Bay, Jamaica
The Morant Bay Church hosted the launch of a new congregation, the
Soho Church of Christ, and the dedication of her meeting house in
Soho St. Thomas on Sunday July 19, 2009. The ceremony began at
approximately 3:45 pm.
It was an historic event witnessed by hundreds of Christians from
the USA, Kingston, Morant Bay and residents of this deep rural
village of Soho.
Gladwyn Kiddoe led the Mona Acappella Chorus in performing three
songs to bless the occasion.
The guest speaker was Eddie Fisher of Patrick Gardens church of
Christ.
Michael Dehaney, Evangelist of the Morant Bay and Soho
congregations and 1988 graduate of the JSP, gave a very detailed
and interesting history of the Morant Bay and Soho work. The
Morant Bay congregation was started in 1973 as a result of a
"Freedom Indeed Crusade" led by American missionary Marvin Crowson
and assisted by students of the JSP. 50 souls were led to
Christ during that fall 1973 evangelistic effort. God is great!
Soho was the second congregation started by the Morant Bay Church
of Christ.
The new Soho congregation is another step towards the target of “a
congregation in every major city, town and village in our
lifetime”

Successful Negril Campaign
The July 5-10, 2009 JSP/Negril Church of Christ Summer crusade
held at the Negril church of Christ building West End Negril,
Jamaica went very well.
The team of brethren from the USA, Negril, western Jamaica and the
JSP ministered to about 400 residents of Negril. The people were
first taught the Gospel by personal evangelism workers and then
were treated by the medical staff. Blood pressure tests were
provided, free tested glasses were distributed and prescription
and non–prescription medication and drugs were made available. All
services were free of cost to the people..
Dr Alva Kiddoe was once again the only doctor for the crusade. She
was under a lot of pressure. She stood up well to the overwhelming
daily patient load.
Thank God all the people who came tho the church building were
treated and three precious souls have so far been baptized into
Christ.
Our full time students from the JSP at Mona and part time students
enrolled in Negril JSP extension class got valuable personal
evangelism practice and experience.
We praise God!

"A History of the Church of Christ in Jamaica" project
Plans are far advanced for the writing of a history of the Church in
Jamaica. Past missionaries and Jamaicans are collaborating to make
this project possible. Gladwyn Kiddoe and Mike Whelan (deacon in
charge of missions at the North Davis church of Christ) are
coordinating the effort. Already missionaries have been submitting
their recollection of their involvement in Jamaica. Very interesting
facts are coming to light!
This will be at least a two year
project.

Gladwyn Kiddoe, JSP's Director for the last 30 years who underwent
serious surgery on March 17th at the Nuttal hospital in Kingston,
Jamaica has been steadily recuperating in Kingston.
He
recovered sufficiently to not only attend the April 5th graduation but
has since resumed a full slate of classes in the full time and
part-time programme of the school...
Please pray for Brother
Kiddoe's complete recovery and for the continued work of the entire
faculty of the JSP.

JSP Graduation 2009 a Big Success!
The Jamaica School of Preaching and Biblical Studies held its Twenty
First Graduation Exercise on Sunday April 5, 2009 at 4 pm at the
Mona/JSP building in Mona Heights, Kingston, Jamaica. It was a
wonderful, well organized and historic event.

JSP Graduates April 5th 2009 with Director Gladwyn Kiddoe
(Individual photos of the graduates can be found by clicking
here.)
The highlights: we had the
largest graduating class in our history: twelve in number. drawn from
6 congregations in Jamaica and Haiti.
The Director's report was
delivered by acting Director Francis Yorke. Gladwyn Kiddoe, who is
still recovering from surgery done 20 days ago, attended but as a
precautionary measure "took it easy" and did not participate.
The Valedictorian (most outstanding graduate) was Ivio Rosier from Cap
Haitian CoC, Haiti.
During the ceremony our full time students
did an enthralling dramatic enactment of the "Paul's Speech at Mar's
Hill!, in Athens (Acts 17). Very powerful. You will soon see this on
our website
The following students graduated from the
institution:Receiving Diplomas
in Preaching and Biblical Studies:Clifford Davis (St Ann's
Bay church of Christ, Jamaica)
Ivio Rosier (Cap Haitian church of Christ,
Haiti)

Degree in Biblical Studies:Caveita Francis (Mona church of

Receiving Certificates in Preaching and
Biblical Studies:Peter Brown (Delano church of Christ,
Jamaica)
Fabian Baker
(Bull Savannah church of Christ, Jamaica)

in Biblical Studies:Lastene Hylton (Mona church of Christ,
Jamaica)
Polly Francis (Bull Savannah church of Christ, Jamaica)
Nicole Facey (Bull Savannah
church of Christ, Jamaica)
Sharon Wright (Mona church of Christ, Jamaica)
The guest speaker, Derrick Brown, the
Evangelist of the St Jago church of Christ, Spanish Town, Jamaica.
challenged graduates to labor and toil tirelessly for Jesus Christ for
the rest of their lives. His speech was very motivating to all
present..
Brethren from congregations in the north, south, east
and west of Jamaica attended. Attendance was not as large as in past
years, However, three different all island Church activities are
taking place in the period April 5 -13th: an All Island Ladies COC
Retreat, an All island Lectureship COC and the graduation. Hence we
understand in this dismal economic climate,
The school now has
its largest ever Jamaican student enrollment: 42 . Most of these
students were in attendance. In fact the Caribbean JSP enrollment
including our Cuban Extension programme is 80!
A message from
the North Davis Church of Christ's elders was read to the audience by
administrator-designate: Paul Blake
Notes from JSP Director
Gladwyn Kiddoe can be found
here.
We
hope to post video highlights and a
pictorial commentary soon.
We thank God,
God bless
Gladwyn Kiddoe
JSP Director

Recently the Spanish
Town Church of Christ (formerly Willowdene church of Christ) in Spanish Town, South Central Jamaica)
has appointed elders. They are the first congregation in Jamaica to appoint
elders since 1974! (In that year the Mona Church of Christ
appointed three elders. However, the eldership was dissolved in 1976.)
This congregation was started through a JSP / Freedom Indeed
crusade in the early 1970's. Brother Leslie Goode (who graduated
from JSP and now works full-time with JSP) serves as evangelist of
this congregation. We commend Brother
Goode for his leadership and effectiveness in carrying out the mandate
given by the Lord in Titus 1:5. To other congregations and Evangelists in Jamaica, we would repeat
the Master's words: "Go, and do likewise." (Luke 10:37)
-Gladwyn
Good news! Jamaica's Chief Nursing Officer (the head of all
nurses serving in the Ministry of Health in Jamaica (i.e the
government agency responsible for organizing Jamaican health care) is
Dr Leila Dehaney, member of the Board of Advisers of the JSP and wife
of Evangelist of the Morant Bay Church of Christ, Michael Dehaney.
Michael graduated from the JSP more than 15 years ago. Sister
Dehaney was one of the earliest members of the Morant bay congregation
started through a JSP crusade( i.e. the Marvin Crowsion organized:
Freedom Indeed Crusade) in the summer of 1971.
Sister Dehaney
is doing an excellent job,
To God be the glory!
